If you’ve ever wondered what skin care products your favorite celebrities are using, you’re not alone. Since 2022, we’ve been asking celebrities, influencers and brand founders to share their favorite products across categories like beauty, travel, home and fitness for our series The Essentials List. Now that we’re in July, we’ve curated a list of the summer-appropriate skin care products they’ve shared with us, like the great-smelling body oil Tia Mowry adores and the $14 lip mask Demi Moore always has on hand. Alongside celeb-loved sunscreen recommendations (because SPF is a must, even in your lip balm), we’ve included some cooling products and other beauty items that will leave your skin looking clear, glowy and sun-kissed this summer.
Celeb-favorite lip care
Demi Moore and Ayesha Curry are fans of this viral lip mask that's perfect for prepping your lips for a summertime no-makeup makeup look. “I always have it on hand and really find that it nourishes my lips, keeping them soft, smooth and hydrated,” Moore says. This editor-loved product is formulated with ingredients like coconut oil and shea butter to moisturize dry lips overnight. In Curry's words, “No matter how many times I try something new, it still ends up being the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask.”
Last year, “Dancing with the Stars” host Julianne Hough shared her everyday must-haves with us, and Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Swivel Stick was one of her top picks. The balm’s nourishing cocoa and shea butter formula helps heal cracked and chapped lips and can also be used on dry patches on the rest of the body, which is perfect for skin that's been in the pool or the hot sun. The best part? A three-pack costs less than $10.
Ingredients like shea butter and green tea extract soften and heal cracked lips, while the SPF in this balm protects the skin from harmful UV rays. Free of parabens, alcohol and gluten, the balm, which has tennis player Taylor Fritz’s stamp of approval, is available in flavors like Black tea and Blackberry and Grapefruit and Ginger.
Tinted lip balms deserve a space in your makeup bag this summer, just ask Jenna Dewan. The actress loves this cruelty-free balm from Jessica Alba’s line so much she keeps one in her purse and car. Made with ingredients like avocado oil and pomegranate and açai extracts, this lip product comes in seven perfect-for-summer colors and is free of mineral oil, parabens and synthetic fragrances.
Celeb-favorite sun care
This sea salt-scented sunscreen is a part of tennis player Danielle Collins’ beauty routine. It’s reef-friendly, has SPF 30 and features ingredients like hibiscus extract to hydrate the skin, as well as neem leaf and flower extract, which is great for acne-prone skin and helps improve elasticity. Plus, the sunscreen claims to keep you moisturized for 72 hours.
Summer is all about radiant, healthy-looking skin, which is where the Kopari Sun Shield Body Glow comes in. The gel sunscreen has SPF 30 and is formulated with vitamin E, a blend of oils and mica, which gives skin a glowy, shimmery look. Need more convincing? Take it from Lo Bosworth: “It smells great and makes your skin slightly sparkly. It’s also really pretty on your neck, chest and arms.”
When we interviewed Dr. Sandra Lee, better known as Dr. Pimple Popper, the TLC star unsurprisingly had a lot of great skin care picks. Among the products loved by the derm is this tinted sunscreen from EltaMD. Formulated with sensitive skin in mind, this travel-friendly product can be worn under makeup or on its own and boasts SPF 46. Plus, its lightweight formula is oil-free and won’t leave a white cast.
Both Coco Gauff and Alex Morgan have shared that they’re fans of this sunscreen from Supergoop! The product has a nongreasy formula that’s hydrating, noncomedogenic and water- and sweat-resistant for up to 80 minutes. It’s also cruelty-free and FSA/HSA eligible.
Celeb-favorite skin and body care
This editor-loved ice roller also gets Madison Headrick’s approval. It’s perfect for depuffing the eyes, calming redness from being in the sun too long and relieving migraines. For best results, the tool should be placed in the freezer until it’s ready to use.
Not being diligent with your skin care routine, especially during the summer when sweat and sunscreen accumulate on the skin, can lead to pimples popping up. This is where pimple patches come into play. To combat blemishes, “Summer House” star Paige DeSorbo swears by Hero Cosmetics Mighty Patch, which she wears everywhere. The hydrocolloid stickers draw gunk out of whiteheads, reducing their appearance and protecting the pimple while it heals.
When we asked Vanna White about her beauty essentials, the "Wheel of Fortune" co-host told us she's a fan of Vaseline. No surprise there: From protecting small cuts to healing cracked lips and heels, the drugstore favorite has an endless number of uses and can even help repair sunburned skin.
These Molly Sims-approved eye gels firm the under-eye area while offering a cooling effect. Sims recommends popping into the fridge before use. In the actress and YSE Beauty founder’s words, “I’ve never met an eye patch I didn’t like, but these eye patches are a can’t-live-without necessity.”
A gentle yet effective facial cleanser should have a place in your beauty routine year-round. This foaming wash from CeraVe is a favorite of TikToker Charli D’Amelio and is perfect for normal to oily skin types. It’s fragrance-free, noncomedogenic and formulated with ceramides to help protect the skin’s natural barrier. It also won’t leave your face feeling stripped of moisture.
The Glazing Milk from Hailey Bieber’s brand, Rhode, calms and preps the skin for the rest of your routine. Suitable for all skin types, the serum uses ingredients like ceramides to support the skin’s natural barrier, which can be compromised by your environment. As Bieber told us, “I use this religiously morning and night, post-cleanse and before [the] other products in my routine. It’s a treatment all on its own!” It also has the National Eczema Association’s seal of acceptance.
This Aryna Sabalenka-approved two-part face treatment from Dr. Jart+ cools and brightens skin and is inspired by cryotherapy. The flexible mask, which you’ll put on after applying the ampoule of niacinamide and vitamin C, is split in two pieces. That way, you can get a more custom fit. The product can be used up to three times a week and should be left on for 30 to 40 minutes.
The Be Your Best oil-based cleanser from Trinny Woodall’s line uses pineapple enzymes to gently exfoliate the skin and almond and jojoba oils to remove SPF and more. Woodall uses the cleanser in the morning and at night as part of her skin care routine.
When we spoke to Tia Mowry, the actress praised Costa Brazil’s Sol Sunlight Body Oil. The product, which uses ingredients like Brazil nut, babassu and patauá oils to moisturize and firm skin; is suitable for everyday use; and should be applied to damp skin. It also smells so good that Mowry consistently gets complimented on it.
