'Me In Three' asks design icons which three objects define them
Italian architect-designer Fabio Novembre chooses his trio
Fabio Novembre loves objects. “We are surrounded by things,” he enthuses in his treasure-filled Milan studio. “They are like little spirits – they aid souls.”
The Italian designer is well-versed on the subject. An architect since 1992, Novembre made his name through a series of large design projects for restaurants, nightclubs and shops, as well as unique furniture pieces such as ‘AND’, the vast spiral seat in this video.
He is known for his bold command of space, evident in everything from his ambitious solo exhibitions in 2008 and 2009 to his contemporary stylings for AC Milan and Lavazza coffee.
For our new digital video series ‘Me In Three’, CNN Style is asking artistic icons to show us three objects that define their creative ethos and spirit.
Here, the celebrated maker reveals the three items that inspire him; an exhibition poster by Italian graphic artist AG Fronzoni, a sleek sculpture by industrial designer Luigi Colani and a tin compass made out of Pinocchio’s elongated nose.
“The important thing in the end is to make people smile – it’s what objects should actually do,” he says categorically.
