I am someone who has to brush my hair everyday to avoid tangles, but sometimes even that doesn’t prevent knots. In order to keep my hair as smooth and orderly as possible, a good quality brush made specifically for brushing wet, tangled hair is a necessity in my daily routine.

Typically, I brush my hair straight out of the shower using the popular Wet Brush, but I realized that though it’s quick and effective, it is difficult to clean. Since I bleached my hair blond, I shed more than I used to, leaving the brush full of hair after every use. With this new issue on my hands, I was in need of an everyday budget hairbrush that does the job efficiently but can be cleaned with ease. And that’s when I discovered the viral Unbrush.

The Unbrush quickly and gently detangles hair using a unique vented cushion and flexible antistatic bristles, compatible with any hair type, wet or dry.

How I found the Unbrush

After doing some research online about how to clean a hairbrush, I came across a TikTok review claiming that the Unbrush was easier to clean than most hairbrushes on the market. This is due to the backless design of the brush, different from most hairbrushes that have bristles embedded into a cushion.

After watching this review, I ran to Amazon to check it out for myself and was happily greeted by the low price tag. Since the Unbrush is affordable as well as frequently compared to the Wet Brush online, it seemed like this product would be exactly what I was looking for. After testing the Unbrush, I can confidently say it is my new favorite and even better than the Wet Brush I have been using for years.

Why the Unbrush is a score

One of the reasons I love the Unbrush is how easy it is to clean after each use. When I brush my hair wet or dry (usually leaving a clump of hair behind), I’m able to simply pull the hair out of the bristles in less than a second. There’s no need to use another brush or comb to rake the hair out or take the Unbrush apart to clean it, similar to what I would’ve done with my old brushes. Now, every time I brush my hair it’s like I’m using a brand-new hairbrush.

To my surprise, the Unbrush is also significantly faster at detangling my knots when compared to other detangling brushes I’ve used. After shampooing, my hair typically feels tangled and dry. The Unbrush is able to get my hair back to being smooth and knot-free without pain or the use of a detangling spray — all in under a minute. Overall, when taming my hair with this brush, it’s a pleasant experience free of tugging or pulling in an attempt to get the knots out.

When used as a styling brush, the Unbrush also works wonders. I can easily smooth the top of my hair to put it up in a slicked back hairstyle without needing too much product. My one critique would be that I wish the plastic were more durable, which is mostly an issue when styling. The brush tends to bend or is hard to grip when putting all my strength into getting my hair into a ponytail. This is a minor downside though, since it does the job well and ultimately hasn’t broken during use.

Despite the material not being as durable as I would like, for the price, this is a great product to include in your hair care routine, especially if your hair tangles easily.
