Dyson vacuums have been, and continue to be, some of the best vacuums on the market. From their sleek design and powerful motors to their super-smooth ball head that can maneuver around any obstacle easily, it’s no wonder they have such a big fan base. But with all the tech and name recognition of a Dyson comes quite a hefty price tag.
Let’s be honest, Dyson vacuums are ridiculously expensive. And while they are fantastic, they might not be worth it for everyone. That’s why when I saw a little $20 gadget on Amazon that helps you make your normal vacuum more like a Dyson, I knew I had to try it.
This $20 lamp illuminates the floors to help you see previously invisible dust bunnies and crumbs. It’s incredibly helpful and works nearly as well as Dyson’s built-in tech.
How I found the Tewisefaok Vacuum Light
As a product reviewer, I’m always on the lookout for new cheap odds and ends that could help improve our readers’ lives. Because of that, I find myself endlessly scrolling through — ahem, I mean researching — social media accounts that review all sorts of gadgets. I started to see more and more vacuum hacks, so I looked into what Amazon had to offer and found the Tewisefaok Vacuum Light.
Why the Tewisefaok Vacuum Light is a score
I have two dogs, one of whom has a light-colored double coat, which means there’s a lot of invisible dog hair floating around my home. To help combat this, we got a Dyson vacuum equipped with Fluffy Optic technology to help spot all the dust bunnies and furballs we’d otherwise miss. The first time I tried this fancy, light-enabled vacuum head, I was immediately hooked. The light helps you see so much debris that seemed invisible just seconds before; however, the cheapest Dyson with this built-in light costs $650.
That’s where this vacuum light comes in. For $20, you can get a seriously similar experience as a high-end Dyson, at least when it comes to seeing how dirty your floors truly are. Since I already have a vacuum head with Dyson’s technology, I compared the two lasers and was quite surprised at how well the Tewisefaok performed. It isn’t quite as good — the laser is just a little bit dimmer and doesn’t go out as far — but it’s surprisingly close. The Tewisefaok still does a fantastic job at illuminating your floors, which makes sucking up pet hair and dust easier than ever.
Attaching the light to your vacuum is super easy too. It comes with a mount and double-sided adhesive so you can simply stick it onto the side of your vacuum head. The directions are a little particular to ensure you mount it in the right position, but if you follow them closely, the lamp lights up the floor super well.
My only qualm with this light is that I wish its attachment to the included bracket was stronger. During my testing, the light popped off its mount a good number of times when I plopped the vacuum down, but reattaching it just took a couple of seconds. This mostly happened when I picked up the vacuum to move it to another area of my home and put it back down. If I wasn’t careful, the light would get nudged or fall off. It’s a little annoying, but by no means was it a deal breaker for me.
Keeping the light powered is also simple. I bought the rechargeable version, which comes with a short USB-C cable, but a battery-powered version is also available for a couple of bucks less. Since both versions attach to the vacuum with a mount, once they run out of juice you simply pop the light off, then plug it in or replace the battery. The package also comes with extra adhesive, just in case the light’s placement gets in the way of taking the vacuum head apart for cleaning.
If you want the fancy technology of a laser-enabled Dyson without spending the money, the Tewisefaok Vacuum Light is a no-brainer. Honestly, I love this little light so much, I think all vacuum owners should get one. Once you’re able to see all the dust and crumbs you were missing before, you’ll never want to go back. And for just $20, this little light is definitely worth it.
