Wonderskin’s viral peel-and-reveal lip stains are one of social media’s favorite beauty products, and now the brand is teaming up with Chipotle Mexican Grill for a limited-edition, “burrito-proof” drop, launching at 12 p.m. Eastern today. Bringing a guacamole-inspired makeover to its hero product, the Wonder Blading Lip Stain, the new “Lipotle” kit trades the stain’s signature metallic blue mask for a green hue. (It’s the color of the summer, after all.) But don’t worry, you won’t be stuck with guac-smeared lips — the green layer peels away to reveal a universally flattering nude-pink color created specially for the collaboration.
Even better, the launch comes just in time for National Avocado Day on July 31, during which Chipotle fans can grab a free side or topping of guacamole to go with their meal by ordering on the Chipotle app and using the code AVO2024.
Of course, I wanted to see how the Lipotle lip stain really holds up against Chipotle’s delicious menu, so I ordered myself a burrito bowl (a sofritas burrito bowl with guac, to be exact) and put it to the test.
This limited-edition kit comes with the green Lipotle Lip Stain Masque, Wonder Blading Activator and a reusable co-branded cloth to help you wipe away the mask and reveal your tinted lips. It takes just a couple of minutes to apply and develop the color, leaving you with a pretty, stained pout that’ll last all day (and, yes, even through messy meals).
How the Wonderskin Lipotle Lip Stain Masque works
As someone who’s seen numerous videos on TikTok showing Wonderskin’s peel-off formula, I felt confident in the application process, but even if you’re not familiar, the three-step system is easy to figure out.
You start with the Lip Stain Masque, which applies like a lip gloss with a wand. Straight out of the tube, it looks like a metallic green paint. I found it easiest to outline my lips with the mask first, and then fill them in. It also took several swipes over certain parts to get opaque coverage.
Once your lips are covered with a coat of the foil-effect mask, let the color set. The directions say it takes up to one minute for the pigment to completely develop, or you can leave it for only 30 seconds for a softer effect. When you’re ready, spray on the activator on top of the mask to seal in the color and ensure a long-lasting stain. The spray can go all over your mouth area, so I recommend doing the lip stain as the first part of your makeup routine, or else you’ll probably end up wiping away some of your foundation or base products too. Once I applied the spray, the foil mask became really easy to peel off, which was by far my favorite part of the process. It was super satisfying to pull away the green and see the pretty stain.
If there are any spots that don’t lift away completely, the kit also includes a limited-edition cloth you can use to buff them off. I noticed a slight greenish tint mainly on the inner edges of my lips, where they meet, so I rubbed those areas with the cloth and it easily blended out. However, the stain didn’t seem to stick to those parts super well. They were already a bit chapped, so I recommend using a lip scrub and making sure your lips are well-moisturized for the best, most even application.
The final effect is a beautiful, your-lips-but-better stain that enhances your pout. After my lips dried from the mask and spray, the color was absolutely weightless. I couldn’t even feel it — and I couldn’t rub it off, either. It’s smudge-, budge- and transfer-proof.
After I finished scarfing down my Chipotle burrito bowl, my lips had the same pretty tint. There wasn’t any pigment on my napkin as I wiped my mouth, nor any residue left on the can of Poppi I was drinking with my meal. Later, when I checked in the mirror, I noticed a little fading around my inner lips, but it had an ombre-like effect that looked intentional. A quick 30-second touch-up with the mask and it was as good as new.
The color ended up sticking so well that I still had a faint tint after removing my makeup and washing my face at night. I even woke up the next day with my lips a touch rosy too. So, if you’re looking for a heavy-duty lip product that’ll deliver pigment without any of the high-maintenance upkeep of regular lipstick, Wonderskin is it. Peeling away the metallic green mask is just the cherry guacamole on top.
