Pantone recently announced its 2024 Color of the Year, and in response, experts are giving the pastel hue dubbed “Peach Fuzz” a big nod of approval. We spoke to various interior designers to get their thoughts on the color and tips on how to incorporate it into your home.
“Peach is an excellent choice for home decor due to its versatile nature, effortlessly blending vintage charm with a modern touch,” says Jungalow designer and author Justina Blakeney (also the woman behind Target’s Opalhouse Designed With Jungalow line). “I particularly appreciate its ability to infuse a space with a soothing vibe, adding personality without overwhelming other elements in the room.”
Claudia Afshar of Claudia Afshar Luxury Interiors says, “Peach Fuzz is a warm and subtle hue that can bring a sense of comfort and tranquility to a space. It has a soft, gentle quality that works well in creating a welcoming and cozy atmosphere, and its versatility allows it to pair seamlessly with other colors, making it an excellent choice for those who want to add a touch of warmth without overwhelming the overall aesthetic.”
And according to Farrow & Ball brand ambassador Patrick O’Donnell, it’s high time we embrace such a happy color. “We all fell in love with more somber, earthy pinks at the beginning of the pandemic, and for good reason: They delivered a nostalgic warmth. These richer, more vibrant peach tones deliver much of the same sentiment, but with added optimistic dynamism.”
How to infuse Peach Fuzz into your home
A pastel nestled somewhere in between the land of pink and orange, Peach Fuzz can be incorporated into your home in two ways: sparingly … or not sparingly, depending on how adventurous you are. “Peach Fuzz is a great accent color or it can be applied to drench a room in warmth,” says Kristen Fiore of Kristen Elizabeth Design. “It is easy to incorporate subtly into existing room decor with accents such as area rugs and throw blankets.” In a recent project, Fiore opted for the sparing approach by adding these peachy kitchen stools to a client’s kitchen island, adding a pretty pop of color to an otherwise monochromatic space.
Speaking of “drenching,” it’s a major home decor trend right now and one that could easily be done in a Peach Fuzz-inspired paint. “The concept of ‘color-drenching’ is saturating all your surfaces in one color,” says O’Donnell. “You can create textural details with different finishes — use eggshell for trim and emulsion for walls. It’s a great approach when you have lots of decorative detail in a room, such as chair rails and crown molding, as all of the architectural elements will still register without creating any distracting horizontals.”
A great example of drenching can be seen in an ultra-modern bathroom that Afshar recently designed with her new Dekton Ukiyo collection of indoor/outdoor fluted stone. Chock full of texture, Ukiyo includes a peachy-hued “umber” colorway, which Afshar applied from floor to ceiling. “The rich and earthy tones of umber allowed me to curate a space that was inviting and interesting,” she says, adding that the stone can literally be used anywhere — including fireplaces, kitchen islands, cabinetry and beyond.
But if cost is top of mind — and a room full of fluted stone is not an option — you can easily get your Pantone Color of the Year fix on a budget, too. “A pair of lamps is a great way to incorporate Peach Fuzz into an existing bedroom or living room,” says designer Katharine Rhudy of Reed & Acanthus Interior Design. “Complete the look by adding pillow shams to the bed or patterned accent pillows to the sofas.”
You definitely aren’t limited to bathrooms, bedrooms and living rooms, though. “Peach is a sweet pastel that can be incorporated in a nursery or child’s bedroom through an accent wall, drapery or an area rug,” says Amber Guyton of Blessed Little Bungalow.

Available in everything from a claw-footed freestanding bathtub to a farmhouse sink, the color is meant to act as a modern neutral for the home — something endorsed by Blakeney, who is the brand's color ambassador. “White is almost always used as a default in bathrooms, so I love how colored fixtures, especially Kohler’s Peachblow offerings, allow for more freedom and fun to be creative and intentional around color palettes in the bathroom,” she says.
