Erin Andrews doesn’t do lazy Sundays during the NFL season or lazy Fridays or Saturdays, for that matter. As the lead sideline reporter for Fox’s NFL broadcasting team, she hits the road every weekend and does her research right up until the moment she goes on air live from the field and she doesn’t catch her breath until after her last post-game interview.
“It’s like you’re in the HOV lane on the highway for six months, and you don’t get to pull over at all,” says Andrews, who’s been a sports correspondent and analyst since 2004. “But some games are like a Super Bowl matchup. It’s why we love what we do for a living.”
This season has been even more hectic for the sportscaster. In June, Andrews and her husband, former NHL player Jarret Stoll, welcomed their first baby — a boy named Mack — via surrogate. The birth was the happy culmination of a years-long fertility journey. Now, Andrews is speaking on behalf of supplement brand Thorne. “There’s just not enough good stuff you can put in your body when you’re trying to conceive and going through IVF [in vitro fertilization],” she says. “I really do credit Thorne with keeping my health up and coming out successfully with a baby boy.”
Because Andrews works away from home four days a week, wellness remains a priority. “I’m on planes and in hotels and around a ton of people in airports, so I need to stay healthy,” she explains. “So, I pump all of Thorne’s supplements in me, including the probiotics, the vitamin C, the sleep powders and the greens.”
Ahead, Andrews — who also keeps busy with her women’s sports apparel line, WEAR by Erin Andrews, and her podcast, “Calm Down with Erin and Charissa” — shares her game day essentials with CNN Underscored.
“Oh my god, it’s so ridiculously good,” Andrews says of the body exfoliator, which removes dead skin cells and replenishes the skin using organic oils and all-natural, food-grade vanilla and brown sugar. “I need it because I get so dehydrated from traveling. And it leaves my skin feeling so soft and never dull — especially in the winter!”
Covering the Super Bowl has its perks — like, say, working with 2023 half-time performer Rihanna and collaborating with her mega-popular beauty line. “It has a great glow to it,” she says.
She keeps a pack of these handy Listerine breath strips — which kill bad germs and freshen breath in a matter of seconds — in her pockets. “I’m always pounding coffee,” she explains. “So I don’t want to talk to players and have bad breath.”
Though Andrews shares she’s no longer trying to get pregnant, she’s been advised to keep regularly taking this dietary supplement that’s formulated with calcium, biotin, zinc, vitamin A, and magnesium. “It’s got everything in it, so why wouldn’t I want it?” she says. As an alternative, she recommends the Women’s Multi 50+ tablets.
Breaking news: Those lumpy hotel pillows do not lead to beauty sleep. “They don’t have any support in them,” she says. That’s why she totes around this comfortable horseshoe-shaped travel pillow, which cradles her neck to relieve pressure and allows her muscles to relax. “It supports my head and neck,” she adds.
Andrews uses the word “obsessed” three times to describe her love of these medical-grade eye drops. “I use them right before I go on the field,” she says. “They’re great because the drops make it look like I’ve had some sleep and open my eyes a little wider.” Note that a medical form must be filled out before purchase.
For a sideline snack, Andrews opts for a PB&J sandwich ... minus the bread. Each packet is a mix of protein-rich peanut butter and grape jelly. “You just rip it open and suck it out like a Capri Sun drink,” she explains. “I can eat it really quickly while I’m running around, and it doesn’t leave a mess on my fingers. Then I’m good to go.”
Though Andrews admits she’s no techie, she relies heavily on her new iPad with its long battery life and liquid retina display. “It’s changed my life because I can do multiple things on it,” she says. “I use the keyboard, I can watch games, research and do my notes.” And given that she doesn’t travel with her son for work, “I can FaceTime him when he’s with my parents.”
To make herself camera-ready, she uses this state-of-the-art infrared laser. The beauty device reaches the base layer of the skin and treats aging, redness, pigmentation, scars and blemishes. “I literally sit and glide it all over my face,” she says. “It helps with my wrinkles and the bags under my eyes.” Other fans of this device include Jenna Dewan and Naomi Watts.
