Whether you’re after a vintage band tee, a T-shirt to support your favorite sports team or a slogan tee that will literally help you say it with your chest, the world of graphic tees has something for everyone. Best of all, they’re majorly in style right now, no matter what your personal taste is. The catch, however, is that concert merch, designer tees and even those souvenir shirts you pick up at the airport are often a pretty penny for being such a basic wardrobe item. Thankfully, the graphic tee trend is all over Amazon, with pages and pages of budget-friendly women’s and men’s T-shirts.
Our Underscored editors have more than a few of our personal favorites to share, all $25 and under. From animal-loving tees to vintage-inspired designs, peruse our picks below to inspire your own graphic tee fashion statement.
Not going to lie, this cherry tee was an impulse buy, but I’m so glad I went for it. Originally, I was searching for something a bit more retro, but the fun, pixelated cherry graphic caught my eye. It coordinates perfectly with my burgundy-striped Adidas Samba sneakers and I got several compliments the first day I wore it out, so I consider it a win. Fit-wise, the tee is just the right level of cropped for me. It’s long enough that I can wear it with high-waisted jeans without any midriff showing, and it’s fitted but not tight like some other baby tees. For $15, I’m super happy with the quality and I might pick up one of the other cheeky designs. Because of the decal, I’ll avoid chucking this in the dryer so I’m not worried about shrinkage either. — Sophie Shaw, beauty and fashion editor
As a Brooklyn gal, it just felt right wearing this tee to the last official New York Liberty game at the Barclay’s Center — and I hope Biggie himself would have approved. The poetic lyrics are from “Big Poppa,” on the rapper’s “Ready to Die” debut album, and as anyone who lives in Kings County can attest, it’s an honor to rock this quote. At $20, it feels like a steal, and my medium fit perfectly on my 5’7” frame. I like it in black, but you can also nab it in five other colors, including gray, red and navy. Plus, I appreciate that I could order a women’s size rather than having to force myself into a men’s small. It also comes in youth sizes in case your kid needs a Notorious B.I.G pick-me-up. — Tobey Grumet Segal, reviews editor
When I found this cream shirt with “Let’s Go Girls” written in pink and with cowboy boots peeking out of a star, I had to give it a try. I have vivid memories of my dad singing this opening line of Shania Twain’s iconic song “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!” to my sister and I on long road trips. Nostalgia aside, this shirt is adorable and comfortable. The shirt material is good quality and comes in five different colors, though I love how the cream makes the boot print pop. I decided to size up, but the shirt was way too long on me. Not to fear, I pulled out my old sewing scissors and got to work on a cropping technique I perfected in high school. I styled this with dark wash flare jeans and heeled Chelsea boots, one of my favorite fall staples. The shirt adds a splash of fun to a casual look, or it would also be great for a bachelorette weekend (I’ll be throwing this link in a bridal party group chat for an upcoming trip). — Gareen Puglia, associate testing writer
This cozy graphic tee has quickly become a “comfort” article of clothing for me. I’m a firm believer that band shirts carry good karma, especially if you have fond memories associated with them. I listened to the entire “Red Hot Chili Peppers” discography on a road trip upstate and whenever I wear this tee, I instantly feel that serotonin boost again. Plus, it’s incredibly soft and roomy. Who doesn’t love that? — Carolina Gazal, associate testing writer
The American Kestrel is one of the coolest birds we have in North America because it's the smallest falcon on the continent, yet still a fierce predator. The dove-sized raptor isn't quite small enough to fit in my pocket, but I love that this shirt lets me pretend that it could. Bonus points for it being a soft cotton that fits me just right in size XL. — Joe Bloss, associate testing writer
I love a good band tee. I have countless Rolling Stones, U2 and Nirvana sweaters or T-shirts and couldn’t help but throw this Fleetwood Mac V-neck in the mix (I’m really showing my age now!). The colors in the graphic are really vibrant and I had several people launch into conversations with me about their favorite Fleetwood Mac songs or gigs they’ve been to over the years. I’m usually a size 2-4 US and the small was a little big on me, but I prefer clothes like this a little oversized so it’s perfect to lounge around the house in. — Rachel Quigley, managing editor
After I ran into someone wearing a pink “Space Moth” Stereolab tee, I knew I needed one. While I couldn’t find that exact design anywhere, I stumbled on this “Dots and Loops” shirt and had to snag it. It’s no “Emperor Tomato Ketchup” (another Stereolab album), but I still dig the album’s name and design, and since it’s fairly simple, the shirt has become a versatile piece in my wardrobe. I especially like layering it with a short sleeve T-shirt for that ‘90s look. — Maxwell Shukuya, associate updates writer
I have a collection of band tees, but it had a Queen-sized hole for the longest time. Queen is one of my favorite bands and I've been searching for one of their shirts for awhile now, but I just couldn't find a design I liked. That is, until I saw this one from the official Queen Store on Amazon. I love the blocks graphics with Freddie front and center in one of his signature poses. I’m also pleasantly surprised by its comfort and quality, especially since it’s a lot cheaper than most band merch. It comes in women's sizes, but I wanted mine oversized and roomy, so I got a men’s medium. I styled it with one of my favorite pleated short skirts, a pair of white crew socks and my red Mary Janes — it's perfect for belting out "Bohemian Rhapsody" on karaoke night! — Michelle Rae Uy, testing and updates writer
I became obsessed with playing cards this summer after a friend taught me a bunch of games, so this queen of hearts tee instantly caught my eye. I wore it with black leggings and sneakers when I went on a long walk and coffee date with my sister, but I’ve also dressed it up a bit more by wearing it with straight-leg jeans and black sandals. It’s super soft and stretchy, although the sizing is a bit off (I ordered two sizes up and it’s still not quite as oversized as I’d hoped). — Amina Lake Abdelrahman, home and gifts editor
This Knicks tee feels surprisingly well made for something I got on Amazon for $25, and it fits me perfectly. I can't wait to wear it while screaming my head off at the Garden all season long. — Mike Andronico, senior tech editor
I love capybaras and I love aliens, so this otherwise nonsensical sci-fi rodent graphic tee made perfect sense for me. I was traveling the first day I wore it out, and I received several fun looks and comments. A TSA agent asked me if it was a capybara on my shirt, and after I confirmed her suspicions, she said, “They’re so misunderstood,” while later that night a bouncer started calling me “capybara guy” whenever I passed him. The shirt itself is comfy and fits true to size, but be warned: It may just make you a local celebrity. — Daniel Toy, section editor, copy chief
For the price of this shirt, the quality is superb. As someone who is extremely picky about the fit of their shirts (I have like five different variations of a white tee), this is the perfect “baby tee." It's not too cropped, but not full length and flattering on the sides without being too tight. I’d say the fit is fairly true to size as well. — Molly Flores, photo editor
This shirt is only $20, but I’m super happy with it. The fit is a little slim and long, but the design is just so cute I couldn’t pass it up. Catch me wearing it next time I’m walking my dogs through the desert. — Kai Burkhardt, outdoor, pet and sustainability editor
