Many people consider Easter the unofficial start of Spring, making it the perfect occasion for adding a gorgeous, airy dress to your closet. The best Easter dresses this year are the ones that are appropriate for any celebratory event — whether that be a church service, fancy brunch or a family dinner. Plus, with breathable fabrics and delicate designs, these versatile styles will become staples in your warm-weather wardrobe.

Compared to past seasons, the trends this year are extremely attainable, says professional stylist Xie Antonio. “This spring I am seeing a lot of whites, especially clean and crisp little white dresses; blues (last year it was all about Barbie pink, but this year Ken takes the stage!), think pastel, powder, sky, baby — all shades of light blues; and sophisticated sheer fabrics,” she says.

When it comes to styling your Sunday best, a simple pair of slingback kitten heels and a cropped denim jacket or timeless trench coat will quickly elevate your end look. The beauty of Easter dresses, though, is that they can also be dressed down in a pinch. For a more casual look, Antonio suggests opting for ballerina flats. “I’m particularly keen on the mesh flats we’re seeing everywhere,” she says. “Loafers are also a smart way to add contrast to the femininity of the dress.”

As for spring dresses for your little ones, blues and whites are also extremely popular in kids’ styles. That said, there’s plenty of room to experiment with prints and patterns too. “I tend to go for soft, dainty patterns versus cartoon prints for children,” says Antonio, who mentions that florals are always a fail-safe option. Be sure to take the material into consideration for babies and toddlers as well. “Natural fibers and breathable fabrics are easier to clean and won’t feel itchy,” she adds.

With Easter just around the corner, we curated the 20 best Easter dresses for women, children and infants. The options — which start at only $20 — are elegant and playful, and can easily take you and your young ones from the egg hunt to dinner.

Women’s Easter dresses

Hill House’s nap dresses have gone viral 10 times over — and for good reason. Not only do they exude an effortless femininity but I can also attest that they’re unbelievably comfortable (yes, you really can take a nap in them!). Their spring drop includes dozens of Easter-worthy designs, although The Matilda, with its French-inspired butterfly trellis print, midi length and delicate puffed sleeves, is one you’ll find yourself continuously reaching for as spring turns to summer.

Shirt dresses are one of those styles that can easily be dressed up or down depending on the gathering, and this one from J.Crew is Antonio’s top pick. “A wear-anywhere, timeless shirt dress can do wonders,” she says, as they’re flattering on every single body type. This particular style goes up to a size 24 and comes in four versatile colors, including blue, white, green and black. For Easter, pair it with slingbacks, and on more casual days, try styling it with crisp white sneakers or raffia sandals.

If Easter is a major occasion in your household and your entire extended family is getting together, you may want to opt for something a bit dressier. For those cases, Antonio recommends this gorgeous Reformation dress that has a stunning botanical print. “The floral print, along with the hints of baby blue, makes this perfect for Easter brunch,” she says. The fitted bodice is designed to hug your curves, while the flowing skirt and structured puffed sleeves offer a bit of movement so you’re still able to wrangle the kids after their egg hunt.

A surefire way to ease the winter blues is by slipping into an uplifting blue springtime dress. After all, the hue is one of the season’s biggest color trends. Along with the color, Los Angeles-based professional stylist Talia Bella also mentions that longer silhouettes are everywhere. Lean into that elegance with this drop waist maxi dress. The style, which features feminine puffed sleeves and ruched detailing on the bodice, especially complements taller women.

Most stylists would advise against mixing a variety of patterns and textures, as this can often make a dress look too loud. However, this style manages to mesh stripes, lace, eyelet and ruffles beautifully for a modest and fun design that can conveniently take you from church service to brunch. It doesn’t hurt that it’s also our most affordable pick and can arrive at your doorstep in two days with Amazon Prime.

A little black dress has its time and place, but Easter is the perfect opportunity to pull out a little white dress. “I’m seeing a lot of whites, specifically crisp and clean LWDs,” Antonio says. With the square neckline and playful puffed sleeves, this design draws attention upward, elongating your neck and minimizing the appearance of your bust, making it an exemplary pick for women with bigger chests. That said, it’s probably a good idea to size up since the rest of the form-fitting silhouette tends to run a bit small.

Blues may be dominating fashion this spring, but baby pinks will always be a cheerful mainstay. A flirty twist on the traditional button-down shirt dress, this design from Steve Madden features a ruffled hem for enhanced movement as well as a tie waist to accentuate your curves. If modesty is especially important to you, the length adheres to the “fingertips rule” and the neckline can be buttoned all the way up.

Girls’ Easter dresses

Bella adores this girls’ Uniqlo dress for its affordability and versatility as it can be dressed up for Easter and other occasions, but it’s also ideal for casual days too. Made from a breathable cotton blend, your little won’t overheat when they’re running around hunting for eggs. The well-thought-out details, including the adjustable straps and spacious pockets are simply a bonus. And if you’re after a bit more coverage, a T-shirt layers beautifully underneath.

Florals unsurprisingly rule spring, and Bella explains that floral prints and babydoll silhouettes are a match made in heaven. She adores this Zoe pick (and not just because it’s on sale). Perfect for child fashionistas, the stylish dress offers elements often found in more mature designs, like the exposed gold zipper, yet it still looks incredibly age appropriate, thanks to the ruffled layers and vibrant multicolored motif.

For those on a budget, it’s really tough to beat this cute $20 Target dress. Despite the low price, you still get thoughtful, delicate details like embroidered flowers and a lace-lined hem. In addition, the cotton fabric is surprisingly durable. Reviewers have mentioned that the material and color remain fresh and bright through hours of playtime and multiple washes, giving you superior bang for your buck.

If you’re looking for a sophisticated option for your girl (and are willing to splurge) Bella recommends Un Deux Trois dresses, particularly this metallic pick. Little white dresses aren’t just big for adults: This design allows the youngsters to get in on the trend, albeit in a more childlike way. The A-line silhouette is naturally flowy and comfortable, while the cap sleeves and boat neck make this look incredibly polished whether you’re dressing for brunch, dinner or church.

For a coordinated mother-daughter moment, Antonio suggests paring this floral cutie with the J.Crew shirt dress mentioned above. “Mom-and-me combos don’t always have to match to a tee — these two dresses still manage to go perfectly together,” she says. A vibrant floral pattern (rather than pastels) isn’t always peoples’ first choice for Easter. However, bright colors allow your young one to explore their fashion sense and find something that complements their personality. Plus, there’s no denying it’s downright adorable!

“I always select softer materials when dressing children because it’s important for them to feel comfortable in their clothing,” Antonio says. Fancier girls’ dresses don’t have a rep for being comfortable. (Think about it, how often has your kid said that their pretty dress or a special skirt has felt itchy?) Luckily, you won’t have to worry about that with this affordable cotton-chiffon pick. The flowy design falls softly, and we appreciate that it comes in 10 springlike colors so your daughter can feel confident and happy in her Easter dress.

Antonio loves this pick because the girls’ dress encapsulates so many of this season’s trends, including the top colors (blue and white), cozy breathable fabric and dainty eyelet detailing. Offered in a 2T size all the way up to 6 (and in baby sizing), it’s one of those outfits you’ll look back on when your little tot is full grown and remember fondly as a favorite.

Baby Easter dresses

For your kid’s first Easter, you can’t go wrong with gingham and bunnies! The memorable fit, which also flaunts lace lining and a pretty bow, comes in tiny sizes suitable for babies from 3 to 24 months. The included bloomers are a nice touch as well.

Your baby will be the talk of Easter brunch when they arrive in this Ralph Lauren ensemble. (And if you wear the Reformation Bucatini Dress, Antonio thinks you’ll have an impeccable mother-daughter moment.) This garment was designed with precision and details top of mind: It features a decorative three-button placket, elasticized puff sleeves and an embroidered “RL” on the hem. Additionally, it comes with matching bloomers and a teeny satin hanger for the full luxury experience.

This convenient plaid ensemble comes with everything your baby will need … minus the shoes. Along with the cute dress, the set includes bloomers and a matching bow headband. And although it’s certainly a lovely pick for Easter, the bright warm-weather colors also make it wonderful for the summer. Simply put, it’s one of those outfits you’ll want to continuously dress your child in before they grow out of it.

For a full-on mother-daughter match, this baby nap dress comes in the exact same butterfly trellis pattern as our top Hill House pick. Similar to the adult version, the dress is made with comfortable cotton fabric, stretchy smocked bodice and flowy skirt, allowing your tiny tot to move freely and crawl around to her heart’s desire. The loose design also makes it convenient to put tights on if it’s a bit cold outside on Easter.

Florals for spring? “I know, it’s groundbreaking,” Antonio jokes. “This year, though, it’s more about 3D designs — flowers brought to life by texture instead of print. Think of a three-dimensional garden on your dress.” While it’s difficult to find tastefully textured options for adults, there are an abundance of designs for babies, including this pick. Small flowery cutouts lay atop of soft tulle for an Easter dress that will make your babe look like a springtime ballerina. Throw on the J.Crew Crystal Bunny Ear Headband to enhance the adorableness.

Baby’s first little white dress! Since eyelets are incredibly popular this spring, this Hope & Henry design has plenty of potential for a Mommy-and-me moment. Slightly longer than many infant dresses, this one hits at the knee and includes pretty flutter sleeves. Though you may be apprehensive to dress your infant in all white (babies are messy, after all) this pick is machine-washable and very easy to clean, so you can feel comfortable knowing it will be able to withstand life’s little mishaps.
