Let’s-a-go get ourselves Nintendo’s latest variant of its massively popular Switch console. Hours after being announced in a gameplay preview video for Super Mario Bros. Wonder, the Mario Red Edition Nintendo Switch OLED is now available for preorder.

This special-edition Nintendo Switch OLED features Mario’s signature red hue for its Joy-Con controllers, with unique little touches inspired by the iconic plumber.

The designs adorning this version of the popular $350 dockable console will appeal to those with a sense of nostalgia for one of 2023’s box office champions. Dated to drop on Oct. 6, this model differs from the previous Mario-themed Switch by going for a red-and-black design (as opposed to the red controllers with a blue Joy-Con grip).

Mario’s silhouette decorates the dock’s back panel, and when you open its door you see that he’s running toward a grid of gold coins. The chimes of collecting said coins should be ringing in your ears by this point.

At the moment, the Mario Red Switch OLED is only available for preorder from the above major retailers. As you might expect, we doubt its initial supply will stay in stock for long. Past hits include the Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Nintendo Switch OLED, which is still currently available for sale because Nintendo loves to match demand with ample supply (when possible).

Just don’t expect this Switch to include a copy of the game it’s tied to, as the $60 Super Mario Bros. Wonder (due a mere two weeks later on Oct. 20) is not included. This latest chapter of Mario’s adventures puts players in a side-scrolling story in unfamiliar territory: the Flower Kingdom. Bowser is causing chaos (naturally) by messing with the Wonder Flower, which turns everything you might expect from a 2D Mario game on its head. You’ll be able to play as Mario, Peach, Daisy, two different Toads, Toadette, Yoshi, Nabbit and Luigi too. The Yoshi and Nabbit are basically invincible, but they don’t get to transform into giant elephant versions of themselves, which Mario and the rest of the gang do.
