When is Walmart’s Black Friday sale?
The name of the game this year is rolling out different phases of sales throughout the holiday shopping season. Walmart’s first event is live today, Nov. 11, for those shopping online and then will go live for those who want to browse in-store on Friday Nov. 15. In either case, the savings will come to a close on Nov. 17.
Phase two of the holiday shopping plan will then begin closer to Black Friday proper on Monday Nov. 25. This batch of deals will carry through the end of the month on actual Black Friday and then convert over to Cyber Monday come the start of December. If you’re hoping to shop at your brick-and-mortar location, you’ll have to wait until Nov. 29.
Do you need a Walmart+ account to save?
No. Unlike previous sales, all these Walmart Black Friday and Cyber Monday events won’t be exclusive to those who have signed up for the retailer’s membership. Instead, those who are enrolled will get priority access to shop all the savings, as Walmart+ members will get a head start to load up their digital carts.
This year, Walmart+ members will be able to enjoy five hours of early access on both Nov. 11 and Nov. 25. In the past, that early access has meant the difference between scoring the best doorbuster discounts of the season or walking away empty-handed.
How to get Walmart+
Ahead of the holiday shopping season, Walmart+ is 50% off. That means the yearly subscription that would typically run you $98 is marked down to $49. You can still score yourself the free 30-day trial to last through November, though, or just opt for the monthly plan at $13.
What is Walmart+?
Walmart+ is a membership program that lets devoted Walmart shoppers take full advantage of all the retailer has to offer, both in-store and online. If you already handle weekly grocery trips by heading to Walmart, then it might be a smart investment to sign up for a subscription. Here’s everything you get.
• Enjoy free deliveries with no minimum purchase.
• Save 10 cents on fuel from locations like Walmart, Exxon, Mobil and Murphy.
• Receive special discounts on everyday items and new releases any day of the week, as well as special savings days like Walmart+ Week and Black Friday.
• Easily use your phone to scan prices while shopping in store for streamlined checkout.
• Watch ad-free content with Pluto TV.
• Stream video with Paramount+ offering more than 40,000 shows, hit films and live sports.
• Return items without leaving your home — they’ll come to you.
• Get exclusive access to new and unique items for members only.
How does Walmart’s Black Friday sale compare to the competition?
Walmart is one of the first major retailers to unveil its holiday shopping plan. So far, Best Buy is the one setting the pace. Both retailers are going to be offering multiple chances to save ahead of the actual date of Black Friday on Nov. 29, but Walmart will be focusing more on home goods. Best Buy, on the other hand, will be putting tech at the forefront of its deals.
