Vacationing in Japan is all the rage right now. With a still-strong US dollar, Americans can enjoy cheap food and accommodations in the country. However, one thing that remains expensive is flights, which often start at well over $1,000 round trip. That is, until now.

Thrifty Traveler Premium — one of our favorite flight deal alert services — just found flights from major US and Canadian cities to Tokyo starting at under $850 on many routes. These flights are operated by major airlines like Air Canada, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines.

You’ll find the deal from major cities like Atlanta (ATL), Dallas (DFW) and New York-JFK, among others. There are even deals on connecting flights from smaller cities like Columbus (CMH) and Green Bay (GRB) and more. You’ll find the deal on flights operating from now through July 2025.

You’ll have to act fast if you want to book, though. As with all flight deals, these fares could expire at any second. Let’s look at a (nonexhaustive) list of sample dates you can book now. Other cities and dates may be available too.

How to book your flights to Tokyo

If these deals strike your interest, make sure to book them with the right travel credit card. This has two major benefits. The first is earning valuable travel rewards points on your airfare purchase, and the second is having access to added travel protections like baggage and trip delay coverage.

One of our favorite credit cards for airfare is the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card. It earns two points per dollar on all travel purchases and gives you trip delay insurance on 12+ hour delays, baggage delay and loss protection and even trip cancellation/interruption insurance.
