Ring

The Ring Doorbell has been favorite of ours for a while now, thanks to its ability to turn your doorbell into both a video intercom and a security camera. Last spring, Ring introduced the Plus version, which offers a better field of view and Ring’s highest resolution compared to previous models. Now’s a great time to add one to your front door, since the device is back down to lowest price we’ve seen at both Amazon and Best Buy.

Ring’s Battery Doorbell Plus offers a wider field of view, improved video quality and performance improvements that should help with battery life. Save $30 at Amazon and Best Buy.

The Ring Doorbell Plus functions similarly to the original Ring Doorbell, with added benefits. First up is a 150-by-150-degree field of view, which Ring calls a “head-to-toe view.” While previous cameras might have cut off the space immediately in front of the camera — like a top step or porch — this one includes it all. Plus, it has a sharper image to beam back to you — an extremely decent 1536p — and we found that it films well in all types of sunlight intensity.

If you sign up for the Ring Protect subscription, there are a few more perks: You can mark where deliveries are usually left and set up an alert for when your deliveries arrive.

If you prefer to hardwire your Ring doorbell, you can do it with this model, unlike previous models that were solely battery-based. Hardwiring means you never need to worry about the battery running out since battery usage varies depending on how often there is traffic in front of it or it has to alert you.
