Domen van de Velde/Haus Labs by Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga is known for many things, chief among them being one of the world’s biggest beauty chameleons. Channeling hundreds of personas throughout her career, Gaga is masterful when it comes to using makeup to tell a story, and lucky for us, she brings all that knowhow to the masses via Haus Labs, her beauty brand that re-debuted last year with completely clean formulations (read: free xof the 2,700 “dirty” ingredients out there like PEGs, phthalates, sulfates, silicones and more).

The biggest thing to come out of the brand’s relaunch — besides a huge, heartwarming emphasis on self-expression, self-acceptance and inclusivity — was the Triclone Skin Tech Foundation that went viral on TikTok. Like, really viral. Search #hauslabsfoundation and you’ll find 9.9 billion views with thousands of in-depth testimonial videos to boot. Point being, the foundation killed, and now Haus Labs is following it up with a sister product, the Triclone Skin Tech Concealer ($32) that debuted today with 31 shades and multipurpose ingredients meant to set it apart from the rest.

“The goal behind this concealer was to really close the gap between what other clean brands were doing and what we were going to do,” Lady Gaga told CNN Underscored in an exclusive interview. “We did not want to make a concealer that sacrificed performance because it was clean. We wanted it to optimize performance. There is no reason makeup should not be good for your skin.”

How is the Triclone Skin Tech Concealer different from other concealers? According to Gaga, who wears it every day, it does the three things all concealers do … plus one big extra thing. “So, it brightens with niacinamide, which is wonderful for your skin,” she says. “It conceals with a beautiful, creamy texture. It blurs, just filling in those fine lines and wrinkles. But then the final thing that it does, which really sets it apart, is it depuffs underneath the eyes with a biotech caffeine. Two weeks after using it, you should notice a difference underneath the eyes — it’s busy working on your skin while you’re out being beautiful. It’s not only not wrecking your skin but it’s good for your skin.”

In terms of how she wears the concealer, Gaga said she applies it daily after washing her face and using a toner and moisturizer. “What I do is, I always just wear concealer in the morning by itself,” she says. “And then throughout the day, if I decide I want to do a little bit more, I will apply the foundation over what I had already, and then I’ll apply one more layer of the concealer on top — so that will give you full coverage under the eyes and that light-to-medium appearance on the skin. It gives that more natural finish.”

No stranger to being on the go, Gaga also dished to us what she’s throwing in her tote before she heads out for the day, check out her top Haus Lab picks (and how she uses them!) below.

“On the go, every day, I always do concealer,” says Gaga. “Because you don’t want to throw your whole foundation bottle in your purse with you, [the concealer] is very easy and small.” As to how she applies the concealer, Gaga says, “I swipe it from the corner of the inside eye all the way to the outside, to get the areas that I want to cover, as well as any fine lines and wrinkles. And then I go around the face anywhere that’s red and dab a little bit on top. I just want to even out the skin. Then I press it using a brush or my fingers. It gives me a very beautiful glow and a ton of coverage.” Lightweight and long-wearing, the concealer also has a soft, bendy doe foot applicator that makes blending a breeze. To help you decide which shade is best for you, Haus Labs offers a foundation shade finder quiz that will hone in on which colors are going to be the most accurate match for your skin tone.

“I also put the Power Sculpt Velvet Bronzer in my purse because I can warm up my skin, contour with it and it also has a mirror on it, so now you have a mirror with you for your concealer,” says Gaga. “And you can use the bronzer on as an eye shadow as well!” Available in 12 shades, the bronzer is packed with natural ingredients like fermented arnica and plant squalene, providing an ultra-smooth, skin-like finish.

“I’ll throw in my lip oil in as well because I can dab it on my lips, and sometimes I put just a little over the eye to get that little [glossy] look,” she says. Sheer and lightweight — but not sticky — the lip oil comes in four hues, plus a clear option.
