Pride Month is a time to celebrate the thriving lives and rich histories of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer communities nationwide.

For transgender Americans in particular, this month’s festivities may feel especially important amid a rising tide of anti-trans legislation and efforts to limit trans people’s participation in public life, from the sports they can play to the bathrooms they’re permitted to use.
