New York(CNN Business) A year ago, the Covid-19 pandemic slammed the US economy, businesses shuttered and more than 22 million American jobs vanished between March and April.

Even though the economy has started on its long and hard path to recovery, adding back many of those lost jobs, millions of workers continue to struggle. As of February, America was still down 9.5 million jobs compared to the year before.
