Watch the full CNN/New York Times Democratic debate

(CNN) Twelve Democratic candidates took the stage in Westerville, Ohio, for the fourth Democratic debate. Businessman Tom Steyer made his debate debut after announcing his presidential bid in July.

Part 1

This debate didn't feature opening statements, opting to start with questions right off the bat. The candidates shared their thoughts on President Trump and impeachment. Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) sparred over their health care proposals.

Part 2

The candidates then pivoted to jobs, wealth inequality, and foreign policy. Billionaire businessman Tom Steyer offered a reply to Bernie Sanders' assertion that billionaires should not exist. South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg butted heads with Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) over President Trump's decision to withdraw US troops from Syria.

Part 3

Conversation then shifted to gun control, the opioid crisis and big tech, where Pete Buttigieg got into a heated exchange with Beto O'Rourke over mandatory buybacks of AR-15s and AK-47s.

Part 4

The debate wrapped up with the candidates sharing personal stories about unlikely friendships. Businessman Andrew Yang recounted how he was able to sway a Trump voter over to his side.
