Tom Hiddleston and Taylor Swift are 'together,' for real

Story highlights
  • The actor has confirmed his relationship with the singer
  • There have been so many rumors about his love life

(CNN) Calm down conspiracy theorists, Tom Hiddleston says he and Taylor Swift are "not a publicity stunt."

"Look, the truth is that Taylor Swift and I are together, and we're very happy," the actor told The Hollywood Reporter Thursday. "Thanks for asking. That's the truth."

It was a surprising bit of sharing given Hiddleston is usually super private about his love life. Though to be fair, he was photographed wearing a now famous shirt which seemed confirmation enough for the Swifties.

Hiddleston love watch is sport for those who follow his career and he has been the subject of multiple relationship rumors.

His only other confirmed match was British actress, Susannah Fielding, whom he met on the set of BBC show, "Wallander," in 2008. The pair split in 2011.

Here are some others Hiddleston was said to be courting:

Kat Dennings

A set romance while they were filming "Thor" in 2010 was "confirmed," as far as Hiddleston followers were concerned, when they were seen looking cozy at Comic-Con. But they never admitted to any romance and folks soon moved on.

Jessica Chastain

The "Zero Dark Thirty" star and Hiddleston appeared together in the 2015 film "Crimson Peak," but back in 2013 she was adamant that buzz they were dating was false.

"Why would they say that?" she told USA Today at the time after bursting into laughter about it. "It's not true at all. It's funny, two weeks ago I was dating -- I'm not dating."

Lara Pulver

All it took was them being seen at dinner together in 2013 and fans were convinced Pulver and Hiddleston were a thing.

Or maybe they just read into their cozy tweets.

Regardless, neither confirmed an actual romance and nothing came of it.

Jane Arthy

The record producer totally was touching him when they sat together at the 2013 Wimbledon finals, but who wouldn't?

British Elle editor-in-chief, Lorraine Candy, set it off when she tweeted "I sat next to actor Tom Hiddlestone and his girlfriend Jane #wimbledonfinal. He's a very funny man."

But in an interview with GQ he seemed to "Shake It Off."

"I understand the curiosity," he said. "One day I hope when there's really something to write home about, then I'll be able to talk."

Well, now there is Tom so we shall expect to hear more from you.
