Islamabad, Pakistan (CNN) A mine collapsed after heavy rains in northwest Pakistan, killing at least five workers and injuring 10 others, authorities said Sunday.

Rescuers pulled 26 miners to safety, according to the National Disaster Management Authority.

Dozens of troops helped with the rescue operation, the disaster agency said, but the depth of the mine and a shortage of oxygen are hampering efforts.

The collapse occurred Saturday night at a coal mine in the Orakzai Agency, one of the federally administered tribal areas in the northwestern part of the country, near the border with Afghanistan.

In addition to the workers killed at the mine, at least 37 people have been killed across the country in torrential rains and flooding, officials said.
