(CNN) Fresh off his New Hampshire win, Donald Trump said that he would be releasing his tax returns in the coming months, but it is taking longer because they are the "biggest ever in the history of what we are doing."
The real-estate mogul predicted that people would be surprised by the low rate he pays.
"I fight like hell not to pay (taxes)," Trump said in an interview with NBC's Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie. "I hate the way the government spends my money."
The businessman also insisted the vulgar vernacular he repeated at a campaign rally to describe GOP rival Sen. Ted Cruz, "wasn't the worst thing in the world."
Trump says that they were just "having a good time."
"Those people went out and voted for me, and that's why we got, you know, the numbers we did," Trump said. "Political correctness is killing us."
Trump, who trounced the GOP presidential field in New Hampshire earning 35% of the vote, told NBC he would tone it down if he got closer to the nomination.
"If I got close, I wouldn't ever do it," Trump said, but he also made it clear that "it was a woman, and it was a repeat."
