"Mad Max: Fury Road" is nominated for best drama along with "Carol," "The Revenant," "Room" and "Spotlight."
Leonardo DiCaprio's role in "The Revenant" earned him a nomination for best performance by an actor in a motion picture - drama. His competition is Bryan Cranston ("Trumbo"), Eddie Redmayne ("The Danish Girl"), Michael Fassbender ("Steve Jobs") and Will Smith ("Concussion").
"Carol" star Rooney Mara received a nod for best performance by an actress in a drama. Also nominated are her "Carol" co-star Cate Blanchett, Brie Larson ("Room"), Saoirse Ronan ("Brooklyn") and Alicia Vikander ("The Danish Girl").
Amy Schumer's "Trainwreck" racked up a nomination for best musical or comedy along with "The Big Short," "Joy," "The Martian" and "Spy."
"Spy" earned Melissa McCarthy a nomination for best performance by an actress in a musical or comedy. Also nominated are Jennifer Lawrence ("Joy"), Amy Schumer ("Trainwreck"), Maggie Smith ("The Lady in the Van") and Lily Tomlin ("Grandma").
Idris Elba is nominated for best performance by an actor in a supporting role for his role in "Beasts of No Nation." Paul Dano ("Love & Mercy"), Mark Rylance ("Bridge of Spies"), Michael Shannon ("99 Homes") and Sylvester Stallone ("Creed") are also nominated.
Kate Winslet got a nod for best performance by an actress in a supporting role for "Steve Jobs." She is up against Jane Fonda ("Youth"), Jennifer Jason Leigh ("The Hateful Eight"), Helen Mirren ("Trumbo") and Alicia Vikander ("Ex Machina")
"Spotlight's" Tom McCarthy is nominated for best director, as are Todd Haynes ("Carol"), Alejandro González Iñárritu ("The Revenant"), George Miller ("Mad Max: Fury Road") and Ridley Scott ("The Martian").
Charles Randolph and Adam McKay are nominated for best screenplay for "The Big Short." Other nominees are Emma Donoghue ("Room"), Tom McCarthy and Josh Singer ("Spotlight"), Aaron Sorkin ("Steve Jobs") and Quentin Tarantino ("The Hateful Eight").
The best animated motion picture nominees are "Inside Out" (pictured), "Anomalisa, "The Good Dinosaur," "The Peanuts Movie" and "Shaun the Sheep Movie."
"Empire" is competing against "Game of Thrones," "Mr. Robot," "Narcos" and "Outlander" for best television series - drama.
"Transparent" starring Jeffrey Tambor is nominated best television series - musical or comedy. The other nominees are "Casual," "Mozart in the Jungle," "Orange is the New Black," "Silicon Valley" and "Veep."
Wagner Moura has won raves for his role as Pablo Escobar in "Narcos" and scored a nomination for best performance by an actor in a television series - drama. Also nominated are Jon Hamm ("Mad Men"), Rami Malek ("Mr. Robot"), Bob Odenkirk ("Better Call Saul") and Liev Schreiber ("Ray Donovan").
Eva Green got a nod for best performance in a television series - drama for her role in "Penny Dreadful." She is competing against Viola Davis ("How to Get Away With Murder"), Caitriona Balfe ("Outlander"), Taraji P. Henson ("Empire") and Robin Wright ("House of Cards").
"Master of None" co-creator and star Aziz Ansari was nominated for best actor in a television series - musical or comedy. Other nominees are Rob Lowe ("The Grinder"), Gael García Bernal ("Mozart in the Jungle"), Patrick Stewart ("Blunt Talk") and Jeffrey Tambor ("Transparent").
